Website Development

Our process

Any new site web development project starts with a meeting either face to face or over the telephone to discuss your requirements. Topics discussed would typically include:

  • Purpose - what the site is about and what you want to achieve from it.
  • Template - the layout used for each page of the site.
  • Structure - the hierarchy of pages within the website
  • Copy & Images - the text and pictures to be used on each page of the site.
  • Functionality - any functionality that you require e.g. contact form, blog, forum, search mechanism, shopping basket etc.
  • Hosting & Domain - where to put the website so that your visitors can access it
  • Marketing and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) - how to get visitors to your website
  • Maintenance - how to keep your website up to date

Following our meeting an estimate is produced for your approval.

Partial Site Prototype

Having agreed your requirements we proceed to build working prototype which is typically several pages demonstrating the general template for the site and any complex functionality. We provide you with a link to the prototype for you to review and provide feedback.

Full Site Build

Following your feedback on the prototype we continue to flesh out the rest of the site, building the rest of the agreed structure using the copy and images provided by you.

Go live

We put the site live and then help you monitor vistor numbers so you can understand how the site is working for you.

Typical Costs

We charge a flat rate hourly fee of £50 per hour.

A small (3 - 5 page) website with few pictures and a basic 'contact' form could take less than 10 hours work to complete.

A more advanced site with more pages, more pictures and more features e.g. blogging, forums, e-commerce etc. could anything up to 100 hours work. Due to the nature our business we tend not to take on work that is likely to take any longer than 100 hours to complete.

In many cases we are happy to produce a one page 'proof of concept' for a website. We'll keep a record of the time we spend building this page. If you like the work we'll finish the site and then you'll be billed, if you don't you can walk away without paying a thing.
